Class Description.  

At YogaMos, we feel the connection to breathe and spirit is just as crucial as the postures or physical component of the yoga practice. By linking each movement with a corresponding breath with set intention, we create a moving meditation which in turn leads to higher levels of healing and aligning.  Each class is unique and led by well-trained and educated instructors.  We'll provide the road map and you can decide the safest route, for yourself, in each moment.

Deciding to take the step to try yoga can be exciting, but figuring out what class suits your physical needs best may be another story. Here is our version of class levels and descriptions to assist in guiding you on your journey with yoga. Meditate and Restore - This class incorporates segments of meditation aligned with slow beginner paced stretches all done seated and on the back. This is a fundamental introduction to the prime components of the practice of yoga according to our mission and beliefs. Suitable for everyone, especially those wishing to stop and take a breath, re-focus, relax, and expand physically and spiritually in a slow mindful pace.

Slow Vinyasa Flow - This class is perfect if you're new to yoga or consider yourself a beginner. Also appropriate if you're recovering from illness or surgery, pregnant or want to simply restore and rejuvenate. Expect to learn yoga fundamentals with guided instruction focusing on proper and safe alignment. Modifications are offered and encouraged. Remember, it is not necessary to work hard physically in yoga, it is just as effective if you breath and move slowly. Class is based in the Vinyasa Flow style.

Vinyasa Flow+ - Suitable for those wishing to get more physical on their mat. This session incorporates Sun Salutes A&B and a choreographed sequence including standing postures, hip openers, balancing and binding poses. Be prepared to breath, sweat and possibly try something new. Modifications are offered and encouraged. Class is based in the Vinyasa Flow style.

Yin Yoga-  Suitable for those wanting a deeper experience on their mat. The majority of the postures are done on the floor and held for as long as 3 to 10 minutes.  By holding poses for a longer period of time, practitioners will be able to access deeper tissues within the body, such as the connective tissue and fascia that surround the muscles and joints.   This class is a perfect complement to our more physical (Yang) classes or for those who have a physically or mentally demanding schedule.  Yin Yoga offers a conscious approach to your practice which in turn leads to more awareness in life. Just a few benefits of Yin Yoga are:

     • lowering stress/encouraging more balance in life

     • regulating energy throughout the body

     • increased mobility in the joints and hips

     • aiding in deeper relaxation, calming and balancing the mind and body

Elements of Ashtanga Yoga - Ashtanga Yoga is a system of yoga transmitted to the modern world by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois(1915-2009). This method of yoga involves synchronizing the breath with a fixed progression of postures which produce internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies the muscles and organs. The fixed progression of poses allows the practitioner to fully "drop in" to this powerful and meditative practice. The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body and calm and focused mentality. In this class we begin with Sun Salutes A & B then progress to the Standing Series followed by portions of the primary and finishing series. Breathing techniques (pranayama) and a steady focal point (dristi) will also be utilized. Be prepared for a challenging moving meditation. (Modifications are offered and encouraged).
